When I think of serendipity, I recall the movie with Kate Beckinsale where she’s been missing some of the obvious signs that pulls her towards the man she was destined to be with… It’s been a while since I saw it, but I think I’m right. (but correct me if I’m wrong) Last week, as we were doing our usual post YITP coffee chat, we talked about not being open to catching some of the signs pointing us to answers. So it got me thinking, why… why are we not noticing it.
Then, ironically I saw two bright pieces of plastic on the grass as we were walking out of the park and it turned out to be two little toy pieces that fit together and it was an actual toy sign. (scroll left to see it)
So I took it as a ‘sign’ that I needed to be more open to be aware of them. So this week I wanted to kick off yoga in the park to explore opening up our minds and bodies in receiving signs and probably to be wowed by serendipity moments of our own.
A few things that has come to my research while planning my practice was to first recognise the obvious roadblocks we struggle with daily that prevents us from having an open mind and heart experience. This lead me to understanding how our minds are mostly working on auto drive. Processing thoughts and emotions that are familiar to us on a daily basis – running on repeat everyday. Why? Because for our brains, familiarity means safety and it’s our brain’s job to keep us safe. When was the last time we broke a daily ritual as small as having coffee after a shower instead of before in the mornings, take a bus to work instead of drive or have dinner 2 hours earlier then usual. We wonder why our life seems to be running the same loop year after year and the only time we make a change is when something drastic happens that throws us off course and into disarray and panic. (bring on covid-19)
Going back to signs and serendipity – how are we ever to notice them when we are on automatic mode. Our feelings and emotions are automatic and our bodies take on an automatic stress response day after day. So for the next few weeks in our yoga in the park sessions, we are going to explore more into our bodies physical release of habitual tension. Where are the most places we hold negative emotions and stress that we can mindfully loosen the rains on… just a little… because we know how dependent we are of them. *eye roll* We are going to explore meridians in the body that leads to the heart & lung centre where so we can breath more energy to our future intentions and to be more mindful of our automatic thoughts and emotions that prevents us from seeing the signs to our intended destiny.
I intend to keep you updated with more information as I research deeper into this exciting topic. Therefore if you would like to be updated please sign up to my mailing list. Adios! Sx
